Ind vs SL: Dinesh Karthik feels he should be part of India’s Sri Lanka series & T20 World Cup

Ind vs SL: Dinesh Karthik feels he should be part of India’s Sri Lanka series & T20 World Cup- Kolkata knight Riders (KKR) wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik, who has not played for India since the 2019 World Cup, feels that he should be part of the T20I setup and he is hopeful of featuring in the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka in July and the T20 World Cup.

“100%. I think if you go by my stats, in domestic cricket, in the IPL, in T20Is – I’m very confident and I genuinely believe I should be there in the team. The rest is up to the selectors and the think tank to obviously pick the team. I believe I can contribute to this team in the middle order and I’m looking forward to showcasing my skills in the T20 format,” Karthik told Sportskeeda.

Karthik has played 32 T20Is for India where he has managed 399 runs at an average of 33.25.

In the recently concluded IPL, Karthik had a dismal performance as he could manage just 123 runs in 7 matches for KKR.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik is all set for a new role. The wicketkeeper-batsman will be a commentator for the ICC World Test Championship final where Virat Kohli’s India will take on Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in Southampton from June 18-22.

After joining the Sky Sports commentary panel for the India-England series and already being finalised for the England & Wales Cricket Board’s much-hyped upcoming league, The Hundred, Karthik will now be seen in the commentary panel of the World Test Championship Final too.

Karthik also said that he can make comeback into the Indian Team as he has the passion.

“The passion is still there. The prospect of playing for the country again in white-ball cricket is what keeps me going. We live in an era where fitness parameters are set for a cricketer. You have to clear those fitness tests to be picked on the Indian team. So, if you are fit, where is the question of age,” he added.
