The Government of India on Tuesday issued revised guidelines for the National COVID Vaccination Program to be implemented from June 21. According to the new guidelines, the allocation of vaccine doses to states and union territories will be done based on the population of the area, infection figures, and vaccination data. Also, the price of the dose of the vaccine will be decided by each of the vaccine manufacturers for private hospitals. Vaccine waste will hurt allocation.

As per the new guidelines-

In private hospitals, the price of the vaccine will be decided by the manufacturing companies and if any changes are made, information will be given in advance. The service charge on a single dose of vaccine in private hospitals can be up to a maximum of Rs 150.

Those who can pay the price for the vaccine will be encouraged to go to private vaccination centers to get the dose.

- Vaccination has been given the basis of priority. Healthcare workers will be given a dose first. After this, sequentially, first frontline workers, then people above the age of 45 years, those people whose second dose is yet to be done, followed by the vaccination of 18 and above age group.

The Government of India will buy 75 percent of the doses from the manufacturers in the country and provide them free of cost to the states under the National Vaccination Program so that people get free vaccines. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 75 percent of the total vaccine developed will be purchased by the Center and will be made available to the states free of cost. No state government will spend anything on this.

The process of vaccination will be made convenient to every citizen by the Cowin platform. In this sequence, pre-booking for vaccination will be easy and secure.

The vaccination campaign was started in the country on January 16 to prevent corona infection. So far the total vaccination figure has gone up to 23,61,98,726. The Health Ministry said today that 33,64,476 vaccines of coronavirus were administered in the last 24 hours.
