SunAlpha commissions 2-MW solar plant in Rajasthan under PM-KUSUM

SunAlpha Energy, a Jaipur-based solar firm, said that it has commissioned a 2-megawatt (MW) solar plant in Rajasthan, which it added is India’s largest plant under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme.

It said that the investors of this plant, SAP Energy, engaged SunAlpha for a total of 5 MW projects under this scheme for design, construction and power transmission.

“This is a matter of huge pride for all the farmers of this barren and unproductive land… Through this, they are trying to increase and produce some other sources of income… Our state had decided to install solar plants of 2,600 MW under this scheme in Budget 2019-20,” said Bulaki Das Kalla, energy minister, Government of Rajasthan.

Power purchase agreements have been signed with the Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam for a minimum period of 25 years. The nodal agency for the plant execution is Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation.
