A local court has rejected the interim bail application of Movish Bains, one of the accused in the alleged firing incident outside Eskobar, a nightclub in Sector 9, Chandigarh, on October 11, 2020.
The case
Saurav Gujjar, a TikTok star, was injured in the firing after a bullet hit his thigh outside the club. The police had arrested the accused on the basis of an FIR lodged on the statement of Akash, a resident of Mohali.
The counsel of the accused argued that the applicant was falsely implicated in the case. The applicant was behind the bars for the past seven months without any fault on his part. He also sought bail citing the Supreme Court guidelines for prisoners in view of Covid-19.
The public prosecutor argued that as the applicant was involved in a serious case, he did not deserve the leniency of the court in granting bail.

After hearing the arguments, the court rejected his application for the interim bail. The court said in view of the grave nature of offence, it was of the opinion that no ground was made out to release the applicant on interim bail.
