Currently he is working on a prestigious project 'Shakuntalam' with Samantha.

The movie has already started shooting. gunasekhar also kept his next film ready and it is titled Hiranya Kashyapa. The movie was already announced by Gunasekhar. He has another story ready and it is Prathaparudrudu. It is now heard that he is thinking of doing this film with a star hero. He is thinking of telling this story to Superstar Mahesh Babu. Earlier gunasekhar gave superhit movies to mahesh babu like Okkadu, arjun and Sainikudu.

Another thing is that Mahesh was the one who was approached by gunasekhar to play the role of Gona Gannareddy in the rudramadevi movie, even Mahesh promised to do the role, but due to dates issues he couldn't be a part of it. However,  Mahesh is said to have promised that he will do a film with gunasekhar in the future. That is the reason why gunasekhar is thinking of doing Prataparudrudu movie with Mahesh. If Mahesh doesn't agree to do the film, gunasekhar will likely approach rana daggubati for the role.
