Promising Stormers wing Edwill van der Merwe is reportedly set to join the Lions later this year.
The 25-year-old has made headlines in recent weeks and he was superb once more against the Bulls in Pretoria last Friday, bagging a brace of tries despite his side going down 31-27.
Stormers coach John Dobson was full of praise for the player afterwards, saying he will soon be in "high demand".
"It's been special, the last three games from him," said Dobson. "He was so good at Ellis Park, in Durban and then today again. He's going to be in high demand, I'm sure.
"He's spent a year and a half after Varsity Cup, where he was the star, trying to break through and there were some question marks over a couple of areas of his game.
"He's been patient and he's an incredibly hard worker in terms of training and you can see that in his body and the shape that he's in."
Dobson's prediction will likely proved to be true, with Afrikaans newspaper Rapport indicating that Van der Merwe will further his career in Johannesburg from November after signing a contract with the Lions.
It is believed there was an offer on the table to keep Van der Merwe in the Cape, while the Cheetahs were also interested in acquiring his services, but he opted for the Lions because he believes the men from Johannesburg's brand of rugby is more suited to his playing style, which would enhance his chances of getting a national call-up.
The report added that Van der Merwe would still be available for selection during Western Province's Currie Cup campaign.
Van der Merwe was schooled at Paul Roos and played for Maties and the Junior Springboks before being called up to Western Province and the Stormers.
