Body claimed, ATSUM decries, KRA clarifies

Kangpokpi, June 06 2021:
Following the four points agreement between the Assam Rifles authority, State police authority and civil society organizations of Kangpokpi, the body of Mangboilal Lhouvum alleged killed by Major Alok Sathe was claimed today.
After postmortem at RIMS Hospital Imphal, the family members and Kangpokpi CSOs took the body for the last rite at his village Chalwa.
A simple farewell program was conducted at Nute Kailhang in Kangpokpi DHQs under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee, KWWO and KYU.
Haolet Khongsai, president KYU led the farewell program while Rev K Hangshing, Chairman Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship offered farewell prayer and guidance of the Almighty for peaceful burial.
Later, the body was taken to his village by TSA Sadar Hills in KSO Saikul ambulance accompanied by families and various CSO leaders.
In connection with the incident, an FIR was lodged at Kangpokpi Police Station under FIR No 21(6)2021 KPI-PS U/S/302/34 IPC&27A Act by the deceased father Sehlam Lhouvum.
Meanwhile, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has condemned the killing of Mangboilal Lhouvum in the strongest term.
The student body said it union is shocked and deeply anguished at the death of Mangboilal Lhouvum at the hands of 44 Assam Rifles (AR) posted at Banglabung Gelnel village in Kangpokpi district.
It said that the incident happened on the night of June 4 at Chalwa village where the deceased Mangboilal, a father of four children and a daily wage labourer was shot at the abdomen without any reason and rhyme by Major Alok Sathe, commanding officer of E Company 44 AR Banglabung outpost.
As a matter of fact, such senseless act of killing at will professed by the Major is non-justifiable, it said and added that taking lives of people at will under AFSPA is highly condemnable and it has to stop immediately.
AFSPA should be repealed from the State as it will be the only panacea for saving innocent lives, it added.
ATSUM also expressed solidarity to the victim's family.
Meanwhile, the Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA clarified that Mangboilal Lhouvum was not the new finance secretary of the organization as alleged in some local TV channel and social media by few vested organizations and individuals.
While condemning the allegation, the outfit said such a baseless allegation was made only to tarnish the image of the organization and its sincerity in adhering with the ground rules of the Suspension of Operation.
It continued that since the signing of SoO with Government, KRA is committed to adhering to the SoO ground rules and promote peace in its operational area while adding that extortion, kidnapping, illegal taxes, etc have been strictly prohibited and stopped in the operational areas of KRA.
It said that the deceased Mangboilal Lhouvum, s/o Sehlam Lhouvum of Chalwa village was not related with the organization and alleging that he was the new finance secretary incharge of IT road is baseless and unfounded.
It also cautioned that anyone indulging in such false allegation and circulating in social media will be dealt with befittingly.
