Television actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee, who is known to voice her opinions on various issues on social media, recently lashed out at celebrities supporting actor Pearl V Puri.

Pearl was arrested last week by Vasai police on alleged charges of molesting and raping a five-year-old girl two years ago. He was sent to judicial custody on Saturday.

Soon after the news of his arrest surfaced, several celebrities including Karishma Tanna, Ekta Kapoor, Anita Hassanandani, Krystle D'souza, Nia Sharma and others shared social media posts in his support.

Now, without naming anyone, Devoleena tweeted, "Kuch toh insaniyat rakho...Kaise gande log ho tum log...Dictionary kholo and check the word 'Empathy' you idiots...Stop this disguisting disscussion and let the court decide...Literally humanity is at its lowest…Cheap this is."

The former Bigg Boss contestant also said that who ever revealed the seven-year-old child's identity should be arrested. Devoleena also lashed out at those posting abusive comments on the child's mother's Instagram posts.

Slamming the celebrities standing in solidarity with the actor, Devoleena said that their social media handles are not going to help him. She suggested that instead of just posting on social media, the celebs should protest and go on hunger strike to seek justice for Pearl.

"Har ek cheez ka mazaak banakar rakha hai. Support karna hai na? So go to the police station, court. Go & fight there. But atleast dont get your dirty mind here to talk shit about that little girl.Blood go & do candle march there to release him (sic)," she wrote in another tweet.

Meanwhile, Vasai DCP on Sunday said in a press statement that the accusations against the actor are not false.

In a clip of the press conference, posted on Twitter, the DCP revealed that there is proof and testimony from the victim to prove the charges, refuting producer Ekta Kapoor's claims. Ekta Kapoor had earlier come out in support of Pearl and said that the survivor's mother told her he's innocent.

The DCP said, "No, the accusations are not false. His name has come up in the investigation. There is evidence against him. That is why police has arrested him. The truth will be decided in the trial."

Puri is likely to move an application seeking bail, which will come up for hearing in the court on Monday.

Pearl earned stardom for featuring in Ekta's productions Naagin 3 (2018–19) and Bepanah Pyaar (2019–20) respectively.

He was first seen in the 2013 TV show Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat, followed by Phir Bhi Na Maane...Badtameez Dil, Meri Saasu Maa and Naagarjuna – Ek Yoddha among others. He played a key role in Brahmarakshas 2.
