Hyderabad: The Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao, said that despite the Corona pandemic and its impact on revenue, the state government has the highest priority for development in urban areas to meet the requirements of rapid urbanization.
In line with the works carried out under the Palle Pragathi program, the focus is on sanitation, greenery, drinking water and the provision of basic amenities in towns and all urban bodies under the Pattana Pragathi program, the minister said.
He inaugurated the fecal sludge treatment plant (FSTP) at Korutla on Monday. He also laid the foundation for the construction of the vegetable and meat market at Metpally.
Later, the minister said that people who spoke to Metpally said to ensure scientific disposal of feces in all municipalities across the state, and FSTPs are being set up at a cost of 325 million. A few have already started operations and many are in various stages of completion, he said.
The minister said that for the convenience of the people, markets for vegetables and meat are being built in all the municipalities at a cost of 500 million.
Apart from that, Vaikuntadhamams are being built in all the ULBs to say goodbye to the departed souls in a good way, at a cost of 200 million. In addition to these works, Rs.148 million is released to the ULBs each month by the state government under the Pattana Pragathi program, he informed.
All these works are being carried out as instructed by Prime Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to transform the towns and ULBs into ideal urban areas with all provision. All of these works will be completed this year, he said.
Also focus on public health infrastructure
The Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao, said that in addition to carrying out various development works under Palle Pragati and Pattana Pragathi, the government of Telangana is focusing on improving public health infrastructure.
In the last 65 years before the founding of Telangana, he said only four medical colleges, including Osmania Medical College, Gandhi Medical College, Kakatiya medical College and RIMS, Adilabad.
But after the founding of Telangana, five medical colleges have been established in the past few years. In addition, seven medical colleges have been approved to set up in Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Mancheriyal, Jagityal, Sangareddy, Mahabubabad and Kothagudem.
In addition to the fact that there were 68 municipalities up to the formation of Telangana, it has now been increased to 142 ULBs, he said.
“Efforts to develop towns, municipalities and the improvement of public health infrastructure have been made not to focus on the next election, but on the welfare of the next generations,” said MAUD Minister Rama Rao.
