HyderabadTwo women, including a sanitation worker, were killed when a bakkie went on a rampage in Telangana’s Sangareddy district on Monday, police said.
Four shops were also damaged when the vehicle crashed into it after the two women were knocked down.
The incident, which took place in Ryakal Road in the town of Naraynkhed between 05:30 and 06:00, was captured on a CCTV camera.
The driver, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle, which led to the accident. It is seen how the fast bakkie first hits two women and then bumps into the shops.
Both victims were killed instantly. They were identified as Chandramma (45), working as a sweeper at Narayankhed Municipality and Patnam Vittam (44). The bodies were moved to Narayankhed area hospital for autopsy.
The accident occurred when sanitation workers were sweeping the road while shops opened for the day.
The driver was arrested. Police suspect he was drunk, which led to the disaster.
Municipal Commissioner Malla Reddy visited the police with police officers. He assures all support to the family of the sanitation worker.
