Kirsten Storms recently underwent brain surgery, she revealed over the weekend.
The Disney turned soap star, best known for starring in Days of Our Lives and General Hospital, took to Instagram on Friday to reveal she had to undergo surgery to remove "a very large cyst that had split into two" on the lower portion of her brain, reports People.
"The doctor said it was like so full the pressure was very noticeable when they opened up my skull, sounds so weird," she shared on her Instagram Stories on Friday.
The actor said she "will be on the mend for the next several weeks" before returning to work, but has since taken to Instagram thanking fans for their love and support and sharing an update.
The 37-year-old, who discovered the cyst after getting an MRI "just to be on the safe side" while at the doctor for "severe neck pain" and "migraines" wrote: "That's when we stumbled upon a rather large, very full of fluid, cyst that was attached to the lower portion of brain. I feel very fortunate that my situation wasn't more serious and that I had a wonderful neurosurgeon who immediately knew how to fix it.
"I'm not gonna lie, brain surgery had me nervous, but I'm immensely thankful to my family, friends, and incredible "work family" who have been supportive, kind and loving during a time when I've been feeling a lot of emotions. [sic]"
The star hasn't lost her sense of humour amid her recovery, concluding her post: "Fun fact: I now firmly believe the new plates in my brain will give me some sort of special ability. Fingers crossed I can suddenly knit a sweater in 1 day. Ooo maybe 1 hour. [sic]"
