India records 1,00,636 new COVID-19 infections, lowest in 61 days

India reported 1,00,636 new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the total case tally to 2,89,09,975, as active cases dropped to 14,01,609, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The new infections were the lowest in 61 days, as the daily positivity rate was recorded at 6.34%, and weekly positivity rate at 6.21%. The number of active cases in the country are now 14,01,609, which make up to 4.85% of total cases.

India’s recovery rate has improved to 93.94%, as new cases declined by 76,190 in the last 24 hours.

For the last 25 days, new recoveries have been outnumbering daily new infections as the tally for total recovered has risen to 2,71,59,180.

The new deaths include 618 from Maharashtra, 434 from Tamil Nadu, 320 from Karnataka, 227 from Kerala and 107 from West Bengal. Maharashtra has reported the highest number of fatalities since the pandemic was first detected, with 1,00,130 deaths out of 3,49,186 in total.
