The rate of COVID-19 vaccination in Mumbai has shot up with more than 94,000 beneficiaries receiving their jabs on Monday. Total 94,941 beneficiaries were administered doses on Monday. Out of the total number of patients, around 63,968 beneficiaries belonged to the 18-44 age group, 17,793 belonged to the 45-59 age group and 10,634 beneficiaries belonged to 60 years and above age group. Alongside these 1,354 Healthcare Workers (HCWs) and 703 Frontline Workers (FLWs) took their dose on Monday.
Also, the figures of the 18-44 age group also includes 132 students who have received admissions from foreign universities. These students are being given free walk-in doses in three civic hospitals.
Senior officials said that now that most of the senior citizens have already taken their doses, owing to the gap of 84 days, the footfall of those in the 18-44 age group is increasing day by day. "Usually, on the first three days of the week, we receive a higher footfall. The BMC has allowed walk-in facilities in the vaccination centres on these days," a senior official said.
