French Open Quarterfinals- Day 10 LIVE: Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff eye semifinal berth- The Quarterfinals of the French Open will kick start on Tuesday. Big names such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zeverev will be in action alongside Elena Rybakina who stunned Serena Williams to storm into the quarterfinals.
French Open Quarterfinals: Men’s Singles
Alexander Zverev vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina- 7.30 pm
Sixth seed will face Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarterfinals of the French Open on Tuesday. The latter has never qualified for the semifinal stage while Zverev is the favourite to book his spot in the Semifinals of the Paris showpiece event. Fokina has claimed victories over M Kukushin, B Van de Zandschulp, Casper Ruud and F Delbonis to progress to the quarterfinals at Roland Garros and it has not been a smooth ride.
On the other hand, Zverev will be aiming for his first grand slam title. It will be his third quarterfinal appearance at Roland Garros. He faced an uphill task in the opening game against O Otte but since then he has improvised drastically to win the matches by dominating rivals such as R Safiullin, L Dere and Japan’s Kei Nishikori.
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Daniil Medvedev- 12.30 am (Wednesday)
In one of the highly anticipated battles, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev will lock horns against each other in the quarterfinals of the French Open 2021. While Medvedev is having a dream run in the French Open 2021, Tsitsipas has also maintained good numbers to set up the epic clash. Tsitsipas and Medvedev are yet to win a grand slam title.
Tsitsipas is coming on the back of wins over 12th seed Pablo Carreno Busta, P Martinez, John Isner, and Jeremy Chardy. World No.2 Medvedev have eased past the likes of A Bublik, T Paul, Reilly Opelka and Chris Garin to enter the quarterfinals.
French Open Quarterfinals: Women’s singles
Elena Rybakina vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova- 4.45 pm
21st seed Elena Rybakina will face off 31st ranked Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the fourth round of the French Open. She is coming on the back of straight sets victorious in all four rounds over the likes of Serena Williams, E Vesnina, N Hibino and E Jacquernot.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, on the other hand has defeated key players like Victoria Azarenka, A Sabalenka, A Tomjanovic and C McHale.
Tamara Zidansek vs Paula Badosa- 3.30 pm
Slovenia’s Tamara Zidansek will also face off Paula Badosa Gilbert in the quarterfinals of the women’s singles. The duo will be aiming for a semifinal spot when they lock horns against each other as they have never made it to the semifinals of French Open. Zidansek is coming on the back of wins against S Cirseta, K Siniakova, M Brengle and B Andreescu.
On the other hand, Badosa defeated M Vondrousova, A Bogdon, D Kovinic and L Davis in the first four rounds of the French Open.
Coco Gauff vs Barbora Krejcikova- TBC
At the age of 17 years and 86 days, America’s Gauff is the youngest woman to reach the last eight of a Slam. She will face off Barbora Krejcikova in her bid to maiden grand slam title. She is coming on the back of wins against Ons Jabeur, Jennifer Brady (walkover), Qiang Wang and A Krunic. She has won all the contests in straight sets. Krejcikova, on the other hand, is coming on the back of wins against S Stephens, Elina Svitolina, E Alexandrova, and Karolina Plsikova.
