For anyone who has ever loved Tom Hiddleston in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the beloved anti-hero is here to shine in his solo adventure on Disney+ Hotstar’s Loki, and ardent anime fans have Netflix’s thriller series, Trese to look forward to. The Indian content library sees the addition of two new originals with Skater Girl and Sunflower as well. Here, we bring you every title to look forward to this week. 

1. Awake (June 9)

Set in a chaotic and disastrous world where an enigmatic global event destroys all electronics and eliminates humanity's ability to sleep, Awake follows a former soldier, Jill, as she tries to shield her daughter from the ensuing madness. Seeking answers while facing demons from her past, a sleepless and disorderly Jill is astounded when her little girl reveals to her that she can still fall asleep. What follows is a race to discover a cure before the human race meets its end.

2. Fresh Fried and Crispy (June 9)

A call to the tingling taste buds of fast-food enthusiasts for a culinary adventure like no other. Tag along with the king of YouTube food reviews, Daym Drops, as he discovers the most scrumptious and off-beat fried eats across America. Originating from street vendors, fine-dining restaurants, and home kitchens, these dishes—including deep-fried Oreos, crispy pork chops, jumbo lump crab cakes, and more—are destined to transport you into the whimsical wonderland of fast food bliss.

3. Tragic Jungle (June 9)

A Mayan legend comes to life in this gripping adventure set in the 1920s. Revolving around a group of gum tree workers, the narrative oversees their journey through a thick tropical rainforest along the Mexico-Belize border where they chance upon Agnes, a young woman on the run. Her presence among them triggers the men's deepest and darkest fantasies, inflaming tensions among their ranks. The tale soon transforms into one of superstition and myth when they awake Xtabay—a supernatural female entity that preys on men.

4. Down to Earth with Zac Efron (June 10)

Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron has a new adventure on his to-do list, but this time, it's all about sustainable living. Follow the actor as he teams up with wellness expert, Darin Olien, travelling the world and rethinking ways to consume food, water, and energy. Looking for new perspectives on existing environmental problems, the duo meets a lot of eco-innovators who emphasise the importance of change to ensure a healthy and flourishing future for the planet as well as generations to come.

5. Trese (June 10)

Adapted from the graphic novel by Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo, this anime series teleports you into a mystical version of Manila where creatures of Philippine folklore reside in the shadows, disguised as humans. Amidst this dark and gloomy setting is detective Alexandra Trese, who finds herself locking horns with a demented criminal underworld riddled with baleful supernatural beings.

6. Loki (June 11)

Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as Marvel's beloved God of Mischief for his very own adventure, set after the events of Avengers Endgame. Following his escape with the tesseract that creates an alternate reality, Loki is apprehended by the Time Variance Authority (TVA)—an organisation responsible for monitoring and safekeeping the timeline. Given a choice between being erased permanently and assisting the TVA to solve a greater problem, he obviously picks the latter and ends up becoming a so-called time cop, fixing and altering events across history.

7. Lupin season 2 (June 11)

The highly acclaimed French thriller returns for a sophomore season with higher stakes and greater risks. After his son is kidnapped, Assane Diop's thirst for vengeance against Hubert Pellegrini multiplies tenfold. The matter is more personal than ever and the charismatic thief has his back against the wall. With the authorities closing in on him as well, he must formulate a new plan in the nick of time to save his son and oust Pellegrini as the corrupt businessman who framed his father.

8. Skater Girl (June 11)

This film tells the passionate story of a tribal girl who dares to dream big. When a British-Indian woman, Jessica, introduces skateboarding to the kids of a village in Rajasthan, young Prerna forms an instant connection with the sport. Having no prior knowledge of it, she immerses herself in getting better, fighting societal standards and familial expectations. Jessica manages to collect resources and builds a skate park, allowing children like Prerna to associate themselves with an endeavour that does not restrict them.

9. Sunflower (June 11) 

Welcome to Sunflower Housing Society, where a resident's murder has wreaked havoc. Soon after, the area is sealed and the police intervene, interrogating all of its quirky inhabitants. Among them is the dimwitted Sonu, who, in attempts of conducting his own investigation, ends up becoming the prime suspect. The real murderers, however, remain sheltered as the case escalates amidst a disastrous comedy of errors. The series features Sunil Grover, Ranvir Shorey, Mukul Chaddha, Girish Kulkarni, and Ashish Vidyarthi, among others.

10. Wish Dragon (June 11)

A college student, Din, and an immortal wish-granting dragon, Long, form the most unconventional of duos when they set out on an adventure together through modern-day Shanghai in this animated feature. Din hopes to re-enter the life of his long-lost childhood friend, Lina, with Long's help, however, he must tread wisely as he only has three wishes at his disposal. This Jimmy Wong and John Cho-led film uses the concept of wishing powers to emphasise the importance of human bonds over materialistic trinkets.
