Jun. 7—MANCHESTER — A Hartford man was charged with murder early today in connection with a fatal stabbing over the weekend, police said.

Police arrested the man, Garry Ramsey, 56, and charged him with murder and carrying a dangerous weapon.

He is being held on $1 million bond and is to appear in Manchester Superior Court today.

According to information from Manchester Police Lt. Ryan Shea, police were dispatched to 21 Carver Lane shortly before noon on Saturday on reports of a stabbing.

Police said Robert Callahan, 68, of Manchester, had a stab wound to his chest. Officers immediately began medical aid, Shea said, and emergency personnel transported Callahan to Hartford Hospital. He later died due to his injuries.

Ramsey was reported to have fled from the scene in a vehicle, and police issued a warrant for his arrest after identifying him as the suspect. Ramsey turned himself in to the Manchester Police Department today.

Neighbors of the area the stabbing took place said Saturday that the area, which is home to elderly and disabled residents, is generally safe. Shea said at the time that the stabbing was an isolated incident.
