Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle are blessed with a baby girl whom they have named after Queen Elizabeth and his late mother Princess Diana as Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
The couple welcomed their second child on Friday at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California. The baby weighed in at 7 lbs, 11 oz, and is the eighth in line to the British throne.
On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe, the couple said in a statement. The announcement accompanied no photos of the newborn or the Sussexes.
On the other hand, their press secretary said, Both mother and baby were doing well and were back at home.
Recently, the Sussexes have stepped down from royal duties and moved to the United States to live more independent lives. Meghan announced she was expecting a girl during an explosive U.S. television interview in March with Oprah Winfrey.
In the interview, she accused the royal family of racism and said she had felt suicidal in the early days of her marriage. Following this, the family caught into crisis, deepening a rift between Harry and William, and his father, heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles.
