#Kolkata: At a meeting of the Trinamool Working Committee on Saturday, Ritubrata Bandopadhyay was declared the state president of the party’s workers’ organization INTTUC. And he chose this day to attack his old team against the CPM. He told News Eighteen Bangla that the CPM had become a signboard before the Lok Sabha elections. After the Lok Sabha elections, the party became a visiting card. The CPM also lost that existence after the assembly elections.

This time the leftists contested the assembly elections in alliance with the Congress and ISF. Sitaram Yechury, Biman Basu, Suryakanta Mishra, Mohammad Selimra were also present on the same platform along with ISF founder Abbas Siddiqui and provincial Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Joint publicity programs were also adopted across the state. But the result of the vote shows that the United Front got only one seat. Unprecedentedly, the Left-Congress Assembly has become empty. Ritubrata sneered as the CPM did not get a single seat. He said, “At present, the CPM is completely isolated. Part of the leadership took part in an unprincipled alliance to become a legislator. It joined hands with communal forces. But the last was not saved.”

Ritubrata Banerjee was once the poster boy of the CPM. Alimuddin Street wanted to organize the youth brigade of the party keeping him in front. He was made the All India General Secretary of the student organization SFI. The MP was elected and sent to Delhi. The party then expelled him on charges of breach of party discipline. However, he dismissed the allegations against him. Made allegations of conspiracy against a section of the party. After severing ties with the party, Ritubrata joined the grassroots. He was working for the organization in North Bengal. On Saturday, he took charge of the state workers’ organization.
