Hyderabad: During the investigation into the black marketing of the antiviral drug Remdesivir, the police in Hyderabad found that family member of some COVID-19 patients were also involved.
According to a report published in the Times of India, after the death or recovery of some COVID-19 patients, their relatives indulged in the black marketing of Remdesivir.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force) G Chakravarthy said that in some black marketing of the antiviral drug, some COVID-19 relatives of patients were also arrested.
Police said the family member of the antiviral drug is not readily available COVID-19 patients bought it at a higher price. After the death or recovery of patients, they wanted to make money fast.
The Remdesivir injection was found to be sold in the black market at Rs 15,000 per vial. The original price is R3490 per unit.
Family members of COVID-19 the patient who tried to sell the injection at the cost at which they bought it was warned because the drug trade was illegal.
S Raghavendra, inspector of the task force, said pharmacists usually have to inform the details of Ramdesivir’s buyer to drug dealers.
