The city police have registered over 22,000 cases of lockdown violations in the last two months, in it's attempt of strict implementation of lockdown norms in order to reduce the rising number of COVID-19 cases. On Saturday the city police registered 522 offences taking the total number of offences registered since April 5 to 22,274.
Of the total cases registered on Saturday most 172 cases were against people who found loitering at public places without a valid reason which is followed by 158 cases registered against shopkeepers for not adhering to the lockdown norms. Another 117 cases were registered against people who were not wearing masks at public places.
Besides, 43 cases of crowding at public places, 13 cases against hawkers, 8 cases of illegal transportation were also registered on Saturday. Apart from this, the police registered separate four offences against hotel owners and pan shop owners for flouting the norms and a corona positive patient was also booked for breaking the mandatory quarantine rule on Saturday. The police impounded a total of 78 vehicles on Saturday for violating the lockdown guidelines.
On Saturday, total 636 people were booked under section 188 (disobeying public servant's order) for flouting the norms, of them 308 were served notices while 306 have been released on bail, the remaining 22 are shown as wanted accused, said police.
