
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Many people died due to coronavirus pandemic. The members of Sikh community organised a special recitation of Shri Akhand Path Sahib here on Sunday to pray for the departed souls .
The prayer was organised at city’s oldest gurdwara - Imli Sahib Ji. About 55 members of community died due to Covid here recently. Ardas was recited before Shri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj to pray for them.
“In Ardas, the first part mentions virtues of 10 Sikh Gurus. The second part comprises trials and triumphs of Khalsa. The third salutes the divine name,” said Manjit Singh Bhatia, president of Guru Singh Sabha Indore.
Sabha general secretary Jasbir Singh Gandhi said many families who lost their members to coronavirus could not offer last prayers due to lockdown. “On request from such families and for peace of departed souls, a special Ardas was organised mentioning the names of departed souls,” he added. People were asked to join prayers online to prevent spread of coronavirus.
Gyani Jaswant Singh said, “From June 1-6, 1984, there was an attack on Akal Takht Sahib, Shri Harimander Sahib, Shri Amritsar Sahib, in which many innocent Sikhs were martyred, they prayed at the feet of the Lord for the peace of departed souls. We can do the same.”
Devendra Singh Gandhi, Jagjit Singh Tuteja, Rajender Singh Hora, Surjit Singh Bedi, and Rajender Singh Kheda coordinated the religious function.
