Hyderabad: The Telangana cabinet will meet on Tuesday to discuss various key issues, including the COVID-19 situation and the constant exclusion.
Telangana Minister K Chandrasekar Rao (KCR) will chair an important cabinet meeting on June 8 to call for an extension of the closure, whether to provide further relaxation or not, and measures taken must be to the distribution of COVID-19 cases to plan an effective vaccination strategy.
The Cabinet will discuss the strategy for combating a possible COVID-19 third wave. It will also discuss steps to improve vaccination, agriculture, irrigation and other issues. KCR can also review the works related to different irrigation schemes, measures, availability of water for irrigation during monsoon and other irrigation issues.
The cabinet can also discuss financial assistance under Rythu Bandhu and measures to be taken to control the sale of counterfeit seeds, the availability of fertilizers and pesticides and other matters related to agriculture. The state-wide exclusion to check distribution COVID-19 was imposed on 12 May following a decision taken by the cabinet.
The prime minister decided on May 18 to extend the exclusion to May 30, as on May 30, another ten days to June 9.
The prime minister announced on Saturday that the state government will begin diagnostic centers in 19 identified districts headquarters in Telangana. The new centers are established to COVID-19 virus, will be set up in major government hospitals from Monday, June 7, he added.
KCR wants all ministers to be present at the launch on the same day and at the same time. He instructed that prominent personalities in places where there are no ministers should be invited to start the centers. The Cabinet can also decide which minister will be at which center.
Telangana recorded 2070 active cases and eighteen deaths in the span of 24 hours on Saturday.
The GHMC region continued to have the highest number of infections with 245, followed by the Khammam district with 172 and the Nalgonda district with 156 new infections.
