Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The family of a woman, who died during Covid-19 treatment in a hospital, has filed a complaint of theft of jewelleries from her body. The deceased woman’s kin claimed that she wore jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh when she was admitted to the hospital.

This is the second such incident reported with the police this week. The complainant Anand Saxena lives in Sai Laxmi Homes in Krishna Nagar.

Saxena told police that his mother was admitted to Vaishno Hospital on May 1 after contracting the virus. She passed away on May 2.

The complainant said that when he took the body for cremation, he noticed that the jewelleries missing from her body. After a few days, he went to the hospital to inquire about the missing jewelleries. However, when he found that hospital management was not cooperating, he approached police and lodged a complaint on Saturday.

In-charge of Awadhpuri police station, Vijay Tripathi said the complainant said that during last the family found her nose pin and earrings missing from the body. He said the case is under investigation and CCTV footage from the hospital is sought. Also the staff will be questioned, added Tripathi.
