Alirajpur (Madhya Pradesh): Struggling with coronavirus infection for last two months, Alirajpur district has a new claim to fame. It has zero active cases after a patient was discharged the hospital here on Saturday. Alirajpur, a tribal dominated district with limited resources in western Madhya Pradesh has become the first Covid-free district in the state.

As per the medical health bulletin issued on Saturday evening, no new case has been reported in the district. This is the sixth consecutive day when the district reported no new case. District has recorded 3,495 novel coronavirus cases so far. Though 47 died, 3,448 people defeated the virus.

Alirajpur district chief medical and health officer Dr Prakash Dhoke said there is no active case in the district. “It is a big achievement. Credit goes to people along with government machinery working round the clock since the outbreak,” he added.

Giving a note of caution, Dr Dhoke said although the district has become free of coronavirus, people should not assume the deadly disease has been eradicated. “The threat of coronavirus is still there. If we adopt a careless attitude and do not take precautions, disease can strike back in no time,” he warned.
