Man charged after allegedly assaulting woman and shoving her out of vehicle

Jun. 5—Edward Campbell, 33, Richmond, was arrested by Richmond police on Thursday and charged with fourth-degree domestic violence assault with a minor injury.

The citation states, officers responded to a call on Main Street. When they arrived, Campbell was gone, but the victim allegedly told them Campbell slapped her in the face, and she somehow ended up on the roadway. She told the officers her left knee was hurting, but it hurt more after hitting the ground.

An officer interviewed the witnesses. They allegedly told the officer they saw Campbell strike the victim three-to-four times in the head, shoulder, and face area. In addition, one of the witnesses said they saw Campbell shove the victim. Campbell was arrested and taken to the Madison County Detention Center.

Woman arrested for assault and falsely reporting an incident.

Carrie Means, 37, Richmond, was arrested by Richmond police on Wednesday and charged with second-degree domestic violence assault and falsely reporting an incident.

According to a citation, on May 8, Means reported to Richmond police she had been assaulted and robbed by her boyfriend, Chad Chase, and Kaitlynn Hicks, and Anthony Cornelison.

This occurred in room 315 at Super 7.

Means told police Chase assaulted her by jumping across the bed and striking her in the head with a beer bottle. Means allegedly told police Chase then took $300 from her. Means said the subjects then all fled from the room.

The citation states officers found a blood trail leading from the room to the rear upstairs balcony and down the stairs to the parking lot. Means had minor injuries. However, they did not match her account of events and did not appear severe enough to produce the blood trail in question.

In addition, according to the citation, Means' account of events kept changing during questioning.

The citation states, Hicks was located on Turpin drive. When officers spoke with Hicks, she said she had been in the room with Means and the other subjects.

Hicks allegedly told police Means was behaving strangely and was being very aggressive and confrontational toward Chase. However, she said she left the room before any physical altercation and went to the Shell station next door, and she allegedly said she saw Chase walk from the motel a short time later, holding a shirt to his head.

Hicks said Chase appeared to have a head wound which was bleeding heavily, and she said Chase told her Means had struck him in the head, causing the injury.

On May 20, an officer interviewed Chase at the police department.

During the interview, Chase allegedly said he and Means were arguing about missing money when Means struck him repeatedly in the head with a beer bottle. Chase said Cornelison pulled Means off of him, and he left the room. Chase said he walked to the rear of the motel and to the Shell station next door, where he met with Hicks. Chase told officers he suffered a laceration to the top of his head and bled heavily at the time. He showed officers a scar on the top of his head, which he said resulted from the injury.

On June 2, an officer interviewed Cornelison, who allegedly said Means and Chase were arguing about money and a missing debit card. Cornelison said Means went through all the belongings in the room. Cornelison said Means suddenly ran across the room, jumped in the air, and struck Chase repeatedly with a bottle. Cornelison said Chase suffered a laceration to his head as a result and was bleeding heavily.

Cornelison said Means then assaulted Chase again with her fists. Cornelison told officers he separated them, and he and Chase left the room.

Means was brought to the police department for a follow-up interview. The officer allegedly advised her of her Miranda Rights, and she requested to speak with an attorney. Means was charged and lodged into the Madison County Detention Center.

* Amber Noland, 36, Richmond, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (greater than or equal to two grams of methamphetamine/first offense), possession of marijuana, buying or possession of drug paraphernalia.

* Thomas Ludlum, 56, Richmond, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (greater than or equal to two grams of methamphetamine/first offense), possession of marijuana, buying or possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to or improper signal.
