Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Founder Seeman, who had demanded a ban on 'The Family Man 2' after the makers dropped its trailer, on Sunday wrote to Amazon Prime Video India's head Aparna Purohit asking the OTT platform to stop the streaming of the show, which allegedly portrays Tamils as vicious and the Liberation Tiger for Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as terrorists.
"Stop Streaming #TheFamilyMan2 web series, else we Thamizhs (Tamils) all over the world may have to lead a Massive Campaign to Boycott all @amazon Services, including Prime Video," he tweeted, along with the letter.
In the letter, the NTK leader said that the Manoj Bajoyee-starrer was released "despite widespread opposition from the Thamizhs across the world."
"I was shocked to see the vulgar depiction of Thamizhs in the web series in concern, whose valorous Thamizh Eezham freedom struggle has been portrayed cheaply, intending to tarnish Thamizhs' image. It is highly condemnable that this web series has been made to sound like the voice of the Sinhala government, who have completely invaded, dominated, and annihilated the homeland of the Thamizhs, to denigrate the Thamizhs and portray them as terrorists and extremists, who stand as a symbol of morality and dignity. It is very clear that this series is taken with the intent to malign the proud thamizh ethnic race," wrote Seeman.
The NTK founder said that the web series "contains obnoxious content against Tamils and supports pro-Sinhala ideologies, or any other race" and should've never been screened.
Seeman also called out the series for distorting historical facts and showing the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and its founder and leader Prabhakaran in a negative light.
"I request your esteemed organization to stop streaming The Family Man 2 web series, which misrepresents Thamizhs and distorts the valorous Eezham liberation struggle of Thamizhs. If you fail to do so and ignore and disrespect our emotions, we Thamizhs across the globe may have to lead a massive campaign worldwide to boycott all Amazon services, including Prime Video," he concluded.
In a statement last week, Nidimoru and DK had said they respect the sentiments of Tamil people and have come up with "a sensitive, balanced, and riveting story" in the second season of the show.
However, several netizens, on Sunday, took to the micro-blogging site to call for a ban on the series and called it 'racist'.
