The Reliance Infra led Mumbai Metro One that runs between Ghatkopar and Versova will increase its services by 30 per cent from Monday onwards. According to the Metro authorities, due the recent relaxation given by the state government it is believed that there will be an increase in movement of essential commuters. Therefore, to ensure better social distancing from coming Monday( 7th June 2021) Mumbai Metro One will be increasing metro service frequency.

The new improved frequency will be 10 minutes during peak hours and 15 minutes during off-peak hours. In addition, based on commuter requests the operational hours will be extended by one hour. Resulting in, now the first train from Versova will be at 6:50 am and last train from Ghatkopar will be at 10:15 pm. The Metro stations will open 15 minutes before the scheduled departure of the first train

During this time of pandemic, the Mumbai Metro One strictly followed all directives issued by government and also taken extra measures in the interest of public health that includes imposing fines to those commuter found flouting norms like doesn't wear a mask, then they are fined with Rs 200 under Section 59 of The Metro Railways Operations and Maintenance Act. Also, "do not sit here" stickers have also been fixed on alternate seats to maintain social distancing inside the metros.

In fact, as a safety measure the Mumbai Metro one also carried out an special vaccination drive for its employees. More than 400 employees took their first jab in 18-44 age group. Employees in age group of 45+ had already taken their first dose of vaccine in April 2021,said the metro one officials.
