School, college, GU staff resume work from Monday

PANAJI: The directorates of education and higher education have issued instructions directing staff to resume duty in schools and colleges and to reopen the institutions from June 7 onwards.
Teaching as well as non-teaching staff have been asked to return to work. However, no students should be called to the institutions and all teaching will continue online, the instructions have stated.
Schools and colleges in Goa had been temporarily shut due to rise in Covid-19 cases during the second wave of the pandemic.
‘Students not allowed for any teaching-learning activities’
Since the Covid-19 situation has improved, the government has decided to reopen all educational institutions under this directorate.
The college/university office staff shall attend their respective offices from June 7. Teaching staff from colleges shall attend their respective institutions from June 8,” director of higher education Prasad Lolayekar, said.
The teaching staff of Goa University has also been asked to attend to their duties from June 7.
“Students will not be allowed to come to educational institutions for any teaching-learning activities until further orders. The staff of all educational institutions deputed on Covid-19 duty will continue to do their duty until they are relieved in a phased manner by their respective authorities to rejoin their institutions,” Lolayekar said.
Meanwhile, director of education D R Bhagat, in a circular to schools, stated, “All heads of government and non-government institutions (aided and unaided) under the control of this department are hereby informed that the administrative staff and non-teaching staff shall start functioning for all working days for full working hours with effect from June 7.”
