NOIDA: The
Noida Authority cited labour issues owing to the
Covid pandemic, dearth of materials during lockdown as factors behind delay in the resurfacing work on the 40-km stretch of the
Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
So far, work on about 10km has been completed. The authority is using advanced technology by recycling bituminous concrete (BC) extract and layering it with stone matrix asphalt (
SMA). It is for the first time that such a technology is being used in the NCR region.
SP Singh, senior manager work circle 10, said, “About 30% of the staff of CS Infra Limited which is doing the work of road resurfacing work is down with Covid. Also, this kind of work requires technical labour which cannot be sourced from the regular market. Apart from that, special material aggregates required for the resurfacing work is sourced from USA and
Germany and due to lockdown, it has been difficult to source it. But despite that we have completed work on a 10-km stretch."
Singh added that the work will be completed by mid-July.
