Haflong: With the rest of the state, the World Environment Day was also observed in different places of Dima Hasao on Saturday with the theme ‘ecosystem restoration’.
Troops of Assam Rifle battalion under the aegis of HQ 22 Sect AR/ IGAR East took out a plantation drive. A total of 2,500 saplings of both fruit bearing and forest trees were planted during the event.
Dima Hasao deputy commissioner SP, forest officials, representatives of Hill Tribe Student Union, Hill Protection and Preservation Society (NGO), Haflong Thunders (NGO), Blue Hills Society (NGO) and Haflong Dil Se (independent group) also joined hands with the plantation drive.
