CHENNAI: AIADMK coordinator O Panneeselvam on Saturday expressed anguish over the rising fatalities in Tamil Nadu due to Covid-19, even as the state resolved oxygen shortage and increased bed capacity to treat patients.
In a statement, Panneerselvam urged chief minister M K Stalin to pay special attention to the deaths and find out the reasons to reduce the numbers.
“Tamil Nadu stands at number three in fatality rate after Maharashtra and Karnataka. Reports suggest that one in 100 infected people died last month. The fatalities are on the rise in the last ten days,” OPS said.
The deaths continued to be more than 460 a day, even as the case load dipped in the state. On June 4, 463 people died due to Covid.
