The CoWin portal to book vaccination slots doesn’t reflect the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to reserve vaccines for the 18-44 age group at state-run centres to only local residents.

Many Delhi residents are still travelling to vaccination centres in UP, even beyond the districts that come under the National Capital Region, after booking slots on the portal, only to be sent back by the staff there. These at times trigger arguments and local authorities said they had to deploy additional forces to deal with gate-crashers. Delhi has suspended inoculation of the 18-44 age group at government-run centres citing a shortage of vaccines.

According to the June 3 vaccination bulletin of Delhi, for the 45-plus category, it had Covaxin just enough for a day, while the Covishield stock was enough to last almost a month. Many who are travelling to UP centres are those looking for their second shot of Covaxin, which has to be taken within 4-6 weeks of the first. The interval between the doses for Covishield is longer at 12 weeks.
