Brussels: The Advisory Committee in Belgium on Friday agreed on new travel rules and leisure plans to enable people to travel safely for their summer holidays.
From 1 July, holidaymakers can use an EU Digital Covid Certificate to travel through the EU bloc. “Travel outside the EU is still strongly discouraged,” said Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
The new rules will make it possible for people returning from green and orange zones to avoid having to be quarantined when they get home. For those returning from a red area, the committee indicated that travelers should be an EU Digital Covid Certificate.
The digital certificate guarantees that a container has been completely vaccinated for at least two weeks, or that it has been negatively tested with a PCR test for the past 72 hours, or that it is fully protected against the coronavirus.
The summer plan will take effect on 9 June. The hospitality sector is expected to reopen inside areas from 05:00 until closing time at 23:30. Until now, pubs and restaurants only open to outdoor terraces.
