Karnal, June 4
Karnal was brought under a thick security blanket ahead of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's visit to the city on Saturday.
Heavy police force was deployed on National Highway-44 in the wake of farmers' call for protest against Khattar's visit to the city. Farmers had assembled at Bastara toll plaza.
After attending the programme, the CM left for Chandigarh, while the farmers were protesting at Bastara toll plaza.
All the roads leading to Sector-4 were sealed. Dumpers and trucks were parked at all entry gates.
Panchkula: Members of Bhartiya Kisan Union blocked the Zirakpur-Kalka highway after being stopped by the police to move towards Haryana Speaker Gian Chand Gupta's residence to burn copies of three agriculture laws. Police lathicharged the protesting farmers.
Gurugram: Sanyukat Kissan Morcha members blocked the main road in front of BJP MLAs office and protested against the farm bills. They also burned the copies of the law. Heavy police force was deployed at the BJP office.
Fatehabad: Rakesh Tikait and Gurnam Singh Charuni would lead farmers protest in Tohana town. These leaders along with other activists will court their arrest in protest against detention of some farmers here. Heavy police force has been deployed here.
