Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday announced an ambitious plan to develop 100 water bodies in the state’s forest areas to reduce the growing human-animal conflicts.
In his address on the occasion of World Environment Day on Saturday, the Chief Minister urged citizens to work along with the government towards restoration of the ecosystem. He said his government is committed towards sustainable development.
“While developing 100 water bodies in the forests for wildlife, around five lakh saplings will be planted across the state,” he said.
The Chief Minister said a compensation of Rs 10 lakh relief has been provided to the victims of human-animal conflicts. He also said that around 50 Vaidhya (medical) Mitra have been registered with the forest department towards protection and conservation of medicinal plants. Sawant also said that the department has trained 250 local youth as forest guards.
