A video of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) health workers wading through a river to carry out the coronavirus vaccination drive in the remote areas of Rajouri district has gone viral.

The video, shared by news agency ANI, shows a team of health workers crossing the river with a cold storage box used to carry vaccine doses. The vaccine drive was conducted in remote areas in Kandi block of the Rajouri district.

The video initially shows two women and a man crossing the river that is flowing at their knee level. The health workers are seen holding onto each other as they wade through the water to reach the other side.

Two more health workers, one of whom was seen carrying a cold box also waded through the river water behind them.

"The aim is to vaccinate 100 per cent population against COVID-19 even in far-flung and inaccessible areas," Block Medical officer of the Kandi area, Dr Iqbal Malik said.

Speaking with India Today TV, an official said, "These areas are remote. The aim is to vaccinate 100 per cent population against Covid-19 even in far-flung and inaccessible areas."

Another video that has surfaced from South Kashmir area of the region shows health care workers going to the paddy fields to give people jabs working on the fields.

The vaccination drive in J&K has been picking up pace with close to 21 per cent average. As per the official data, more than 33,98,095 doses of the Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across Jammu and Kashmir.

At least three districts in the region have achieved the target of 100 per cent vaccination of 45+ age group beneficiaries.
