The Wadala police arrested two persons for allegedly killing a 31-year-old man at Anandwadi in Wadala in the last week of May. The accused identified as Ankit Kambli, 23, and Tejas Nikhalje, 19, were arrested for killing Shailendra Gaikwad over an old dispute.

Gaikwad was found dead during early hours on May 25 at Anandwadi in Wadala

The incident came to light on May 25 when Gaikwad's body was found at Anandwadi in Wadala a few blocks away from his house. Gaikwad who sustained deep injuries all over his body was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival, following which Wadala police registered a case of murder.

"During our probe we learnt that the main accused Kambli and the deceased had previous brawl. Couple of years ago, Gaikwad had assaulted him after an argument. We then took Kambli into custody and during his questioning he broke down and confessed the murder," said Shahaji Shinde, Senior Police Inspector of Wadala police station.

Both the accused were produced before the court and have been remanded police custody till June 7.
