Gurgaon: The state’s third serological survey, which will be conducted next week, will involve people from various categories related to Covid-19. These include those fully inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine, those who have received the first dose, Covid-positive people, those not infected and those who haven’t been vaccinated yet.
In the sero surveys conducted earlier, none of the participants were Covid-positive. But this time, the state-wide study will involve different sections of people to determine the quantum of the infection in the community and to detect hidden cases. It will also monitor the trend in transmission of the virus with an aim of guidance in designing and implementing appropriate containment measures.
Meanwhile,
Haryana on Thursday revised the cluster size of urban areas from four to eight in each district for the survey. Every district will have a nodal officer, while there will be eight to 12 teams per district. Each team will have one medical officer, a lab technician and one ANM worker. There will be one supervisor per team.
In the survey, 40% samples will be from urban areas and 60% from rural belts. Each selected cluster has been geographically divided into roughly four quadrants. The middle of each quadrant will be marked with its GPS location. “In urban areas, the team will collect 40 samples per cluster and 20 samples will be collected per cluster in rural areas,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
