Whirlpool of India Limited board has approved the appointment of Arvind Uppal for a period of 5 years as Non-Executive Independent Director of the company subject to approval by shareholders. Arvind Uppal presently is the Non-Executive Director & Chairman of the Board. Uppal shall continue to occupy the position of the Chairman of the Board, the company said.
Sharing brief profile of the new Director, company said, “Uppal became a director of the company in 2005. He is the Non-Executive Chairman of the Company since January 2018. He also serves as a member of our various Board Committees. Uppal has more than 31 years of experience in the private sector and an established track record of revitalising businesses in the consumer industry across many countries.”
It further added, prior to his stint as an Executive Director at Whirlpool (2005-2017), he worked for more than 18-year with Nestlé in India, Switzerland, China and Southeast Asia. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from IIT, Delhi and did his MBA from FMS, Delhi.
At around 11.43 AM, Whirlpool of India Ltd was trading at Rs2211.00 per piece up Rs12.00 or 0.55% on the BSE.
