GURUGRAM: With the decline in the number of Covid cases as well as patients in home isolation, the demand for oxygen cylinders for home delivery has also come down in Gurugram. Officials said that when a portal was launched in May to streamline the delivery of oxygen cylinders to home isolation patients, the average number of applications they received was nearly 100, which has now come down to less than 50 a day.
Deputy commissioner Yash Garg said that Gurugram had received 2,320 applications for home delivery of oxygen cylinders, of which 850 applications were rejected and 1,469 people got the doorstep delivery. The number of active cases in Gurugram has come down to 953, of whom 829 patients are in home isolation, 121 undergoing treatment at dedicated Covid hospitals and facilities, and three in district Covid care centres.
The cost of a B-type oxygen cylinder provided through the portal is Rs 80 and for a D-type cylinder, one has to pay Rs 250. A delivery charge of Rs 100 is added to the amount each time. For delivery in MCG areas, the civic body has deputed one team in each of the four zones.
Officials said that 135 applications were received on the portal for Gurugram on the first day when it was launched in May. Now, the number of these applications has come down to less than 50. Moreover, the Indian Red Cross Society is also working in Gurugram to distribute oxygen cylinders.
