Chandigarh, June 04, 2021: A tricity based Social activist, Harit Kumar has given a complaint to Chandigarh police which has been received by DGP, Chandigarh’s office, against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee & UP CM Yogi Adityanath, for violating COVID 19 guidelines during political rallies in West Bengal. Apart from these high profile political leaders Harit Kumar has, also named as accused in his complaint Uttrakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat for violation of COVID 19 protocols at Kumbh mela, where thousands of devotees were seen without masks and without social distancing in Haridwar. The police complaint also mentions the name of Election Commissioner of India Sushil Chandra.
Harit Kumar said, “When the first patient of the COVID was found in India in January 2020; PM Modi, instead of making nationwide plans to counter the infection, was busy organizing massive gatherings of over 1 lakh people in Gujarat to welcome the US President Trump. When the second wave of COVID 19 reached its threshold the entire health system failed as PM Modi did not take any step to strengthen it during the entire year.”
Harit added, “PM Modi was so occupied in election campaigning all over Bengal that a negligible number of oxygen plants were set up and when CMs’ from all over India were calling him on the upcoming danger of the second wave, the PMO replied that PM Modi is busy in Bengal elections, this was a major faux pas by Modi, which is enough to make him a culprit.”
The complainant has demanded that all the 6 accused in the complaint – PM Modi, H.M Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath CM UP, Tirath Singh Rawat (CM Uttarakhand), Mamata Banerjee (CM W. Bengal ), Sushil Chandra ( Election commissioner Of India )must be booked under IPC 304 for culpable homicide, IPC 308 ( attempt to commit culpable homicide).
The complaint assumes significance in light of scathing observations made by Madras High Court recently, in which the court was of the opinion that murder charges must be framed against the Election Commission of India (ECI), as ECI was responsible for the COVID situation worsening in India. Moreover, IMA Vice President Dr. Navjot Dahiya has said in an interview that Narendra Modi is a super Spreader of COVID-19 as Modi held political rallies in poll-bound States Like Bengal, Assam, etc.
The complaint states that in political rallies in Bengal, Modi, Yogi Adityanath, Mamata Banerjee, and Amit Shah all were seen without masks, and reports were also seen on leading media houses of the country like India Today News, NDTV, etc.
The complaint says that PM Modi did massive rallies in Kharagpur, Purulia, Kanti, Bankura, Mathurapur, Malda, South Calcutta, Murshidabad, Kalyani, and Arambagh between 20th March to 23rd April. HM Amit Shah did rallies in Siliguri, Nandigram, Murshidabad, South Dinajpur, Howrah, and also broke COVID 19 protocols. Pictures of the rallies which clearly show no social distancing and wearing of masks etc have also been attached with the complaint.
