French Open 2021: Alexander Zverev sails into the fourth round, defeats Laslo Djere in three sets (Zverev vs Djere)- Alexander Zverev has won the third-round clash against Laslo Djere and has sailed into the fourth round of French Open 2021. He won the match 6-2, 7-5 and 6-2. He dropped only two points against the Serbian in the 1st and 3rd set. Djere tried to bounce back in the second set but could not match the German.
“This is the main goal of my tennis career, to win Grand Slams, to reach the top of the rankings. I feel like the last year I’m on the right track again,” Zverev told AFP.
He is in the opposite half of the draw to Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.
The German will next face former world number four Kei Nishikori, whose third-round opponent Henri Laaksonen retired injured following the opening set, for a quarter-final spot.
Ranked no. 6, Alexander Zverev had reached the 3rd round after conquering Oscar Otte 3-6 3-6 6-2 6-2 6-0 and Roman Safiullin. In the 2nd round, he had a hard-fought straight-set win against Safiullin.
