Prepare plans to supply water to crops in Vaanakalam: Gangula

Karimnagar: BC Minister of Welfare and Civil Provision, Gangula Kamalakar, has instructed officials to draw up an action plan to supply irrigation water to standing crops in the coming Vaanakalam (Kharif) season.

He held a review meeting with the engineers of the irrigation department on Friday to discuss irrigation projects and control dams in the Collectorate conference hall here.

Kamalakar instructed the officials to fill all the tanks falling under the canals by completing the hanging works of the Mid Manair Dam Left Canal. He said the state government had approved 33 check dams for the district and that 50 percent of works had already been completed. He wanted the officials to complete the remaining work as soon as possible.

The stopping of flowing water through the construction of dam dams is helping to improve the groundwater table, the minister said, and wanted the officials to turn dried-up lands into green lands by providing Kaleshwaram water at the end of the lands. He also asked them to undertake repairs related to Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) canal lining and to complete Manair River Front work on a fast track.

MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, MLAs Sunke Ravishankar and Rasamai Balkishan, District Collector K Shashanka and others attended the meeting.
