Greater Noida: A police team that raided Chanchali village in the Jewar area of Greater Noida to arrest a person involved in the selling of Marijuana was allegedly attacked by locals on Wednesday night. While two sub-inspectors and two constables suffered minor injuries, three people, including two women, were arrested. A video of the incident was also circulated on social media in which the cops are seen sitting on a cot surrounded by villagers. Later additional force was sent to the spot and the three accused Balbeer, his wife Neetu, and a relative Rajni, were arrested. Vishal Pandey, ADCP of Greater Noida, said that the team, including two SI and two constables visited the spot to conduct a search and then to arrest Balbeer, 35, in connection with a narcotic case. However, the suspect’s family and locals attacked the police team. Umesh Bahadur, SHO of Jewar police station, said that the suspects also held sub-inspector Jaideep Singh hostage inside a house. “They manhandled the sub-inspector and tore his uniform,” he added. “The three suspects were produced before court and sent to judicial custody. We are trying to arrest more people involved in the attack,” the SHO said.
