More than 80,000 beneficiaries were vaccinated across Mumbai on Friday. According to the data, 88,527 were vaccinated at the 360 Covid vaccine centres, of which only 35 lactating mothers were inoculated in the last 24 hours. However, 64,636 beneficiaries between 18 to 44 of age were administered the vaccine at private centres.
So far 35.07 lakh beneficiaries have been vaccinated since the drive started, of which 7.61 have been vaccinated with the second dose.
Suresh Kakani, additional municipal commissioner of the BMC said, they had thought of various plans to increase the vaccination in the city and also bring ease when it comes to vaccination. This includes having more vaccination centres and having mobile applications to inform about vaccination. However, the problem is with the shortage of doses. “We are hoping to get more vaccine doses from the direct procurement by the BMC through tenders or from the efforts of the state government,” he said.
