Gurgaon: If people fail to adhere to Unlock guidelines and Covid-19 cases start rising again, the state government might withdraw the relaxations given during the lockdown, Haryana home minister Anil Vij said on Wednesday.
On May 30, the government had extended the lockdown till June 7 but allowed the opening of malls with restrictions on the number of visitors and also extended timings of shops.
Asked whether lockdown will be further extended with more relaxations, Vij said, “Now, it is in the hands of the people of Haryana. If they follow Covid protocols, the cases will further go down. Ignoring the guidelines will lead to an increase in cases.”
Criticising Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala for his comment about availability of liquor but shortage of medicines in Haryana, Vij said even in the toughest period, the state government has provided medicines to everyone.
He said there is a shortage of some medicines as the requirement is much more than the production, but the state Haryana government has managed to arrange medicines for all. “Surjewala should not demoralise Covid warriors who are risking their lives for the treatment of patients,” he added.
On widening of the rift between farmers protesting against the farm laws and the government, Vij warned of strict legal action if protesters restrict the movement of people or disturb law and order.
