Indore: Many people in the city, whose family members have died due to COVID, are running from pillar to post to get certificates to prove the same as it is not mentioned in the death certificate issued by the government hospital or by the Indore Municipal Corporation.

Following the government's annoncement of paying ex gratia of Rs 1 lakh following a Covid demise, people have started making a beeline to get proof.

“My dad was a Covid victim and I got his death certificate from MY Hospital. No where was it mentioned that he died due to COVID-19 and I am running helter skelter to get the certificate as a proof to substantiate the fact that he was a Covid victim,” Sapna Joshi said.

Similarly, many people are also reaching government and private hospitals along with Indore Municipal Corporation to get the certificate or the death summary to prove that their near and dear ones were snatched by the C-virus.

Meanwhile, COVID Nodal Officer Dr Amit Malakar said, “Family members of those who died in government hospitals will get the death certificate from MY Hospital while family members of deceased in private hospitals can get the certificate from IMC office.”

He added that the hospitals will give a death summary to the family members which can be used to prove the COVID death.

Superintendent of MY Hospital Dr PS Thakur said people can get the death certificate for their family member who died in MTH Hospital, MRTB Hospital, Superspeciality Hospital, or in New Chest Ward of MY Hospital.

“They can collect the death summary of the patient by applying for the same at MY Hospital,” Dr Thakur added.
