Systematix Research Report

In April 2021, scheduled commercial banks’ non-food credit growth improved to 5.4% YoY versus 4.9% YoY in March 2021 to Rs 959 trillion, largely led by retail and agri segments while industry and services segments remained muted.

Industrials/services/retail/agri credit witnessed growth of 0.4%/0.7%/12.8%/12.2% YoY, respectively.

On an incremental basis, industrials/services/retail/agri witnessed a contraction in credit portfolios of Rs 222 billion/Rs 382 billion/Rs 31 billion/Rs 86 billion, respectively, leading to an overall decline in non-food credit to Rs 721 billion on a month-on-month basis for the first time in the last eight months.
