3,750 grievances redressed under DMK govt’s Ungal Thoguthiyil Muthalamaichar scheme

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin gives financial assistance to a beneficiary, in Chennai on Thursday.
CHENNAI: The DMK government has redressed the grievances of 3,750 people, who submitted petitions to chief minister M K Stalin during his assembly election campaigns.
The petitions were presented to Stalin’s Ungal Thoguthiyil Muthalamaichar (CM in your constituency) scheme, which was intended to resolve in 100 days of assuming charge in Fort St George.
The government also set up an exclusive department to speed up the process of clearances by the administration across the state, with Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency being roped into providing digital support. “The chief minister gave away the orders to 12 beneficiaries in the Secretariat,” said an official release.
The Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency has been sorting out 4.2 lakh petitions received under the scheme and uploading for clearances district-wise. Of the 1.52 lakh petitions taken up initially, 57,845 petitions were pursued at the doorstep and 3,750 were addressed immediately and the rest are under various stages of progress.
The revenue department cleared 1,626 petitions seeking old age pension under the social security pension scheme, besides land pattas. The rural development department sanctioned orders for 88 petitions seeking housing and another set of 548 petitions demanding basic infrastructure at Rs 26 crore.
The Greater Chennai Corporation resolved the grievances of 236 petitions relating to basic infrastructure, while Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Drainage Board 261 petitions and Tangedco 575 petitions. Municipalities and other departments had redressed 416 petitions, the release said.
Stalin on Thursday issued orders to 12 beneficiaries. These include, free house site patta to a resident of Serapanancheri in Kancheepuram, Rs 1 lakh educational loan assistance to a resident of Dharmapuri, Rs 12 lakh loan assistance with a subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakh to a resident of Burgur in Krishnagiri to start a business venture and orders for construction of Rs 2.1 lakh worth green-houses for residents of Gudiyatham and Karimangalam in Vellore and Dharmapuri districts, respectively.
The orders were also issued for construction of an open well requested by residents of Vanur panchayat in Villupuram at Rs 12 lakh and three other public work at Rs 41.5 lakh. Administrative orders to relay road at Rs 47.9 lakh in Wallajabad Union in Kancheepuram and community well at Rs 12.25 lakh in Semparasanapalli panchayat in Krishnagiri were also distributed.
Sewer network at Rs 20.12 lakh in Thadagam panchayat in Villupuram, laying of bitumen road at Rs 7.8 lakh in Thiruthuraipoondi block in Tiruvarur and an overhead tank with a capacity to hold 60,000 litre of drinking water at Rs 22.64 lakh in Kaniyambadi in Vellore district were the other infrastructure work, the release said.
