Indore: The state government and junior doctors have locked horns over the latter's strike, and even as the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered the junior doctors to end the strike within 24 hours, they submitted mass resignation on Thursday evening.
They also alleged that they are ready to end the strike the moment the government meets their demands and said they will submit their promise before the court also.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Medical Officer Association, Indian Medical Association-in service wing, Nursing Association, and Medical Teachers’ Association have extended their support to Junior Doctors’ Association.
Joint president of Junior Doctors’ Association Dr Ransingh Tanwar said, “Instead of meeting our demands, the government has tried to threaten us. We are ready to end the strike immediately but the government must talk to us and should give us in writing that our demands would be met. The Medical Education Minister has been claiming to meet four demands then why they are shying in giving us in writing.
The agitating junior doctors said that they respect the orders of the court and are ready to return to work but the government has forced us to strike. They said that they raised their demands earlier too but they only made false promises.
Meanwhile, Dean of MGM Medical College Dr Sanjay Dixit said, “We have deployed demonstrators, dental surgeons, and other doctors to tackle the situation and we didn’t face any trouble in treatment of the patients. We have sent a letter to Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University to cancel the enrolment of the third year exam of the agitating junior doctors.”
MPMOA submits memorandum to Dean
After Indian Medical Association and Madhya Pradesh Medical Teachers’ Association, Madhya Pradesh Medical Officers Association and IMA-in service wing extended their support to the junior doctors and submitted a memorandum to Dean Dr Sanjay Dixit.
“We support the junior doctors and appeal to the government to meet their demands and talk to them for a solution. We want to inform the government that we will also take some action over the same in 48 hours or they will also join the protest,” Dr Madhav Hasani said.
Similarly, Association’s Dr Amit Malakar and Dr Purnima Gadaria said that they believe that the government would take any positive action in the matter to motivate the medicos.
